June 13th, 2012Emerson Court Renovation Update
The renovation of Emerson Court continues to be on schedule with Phase One being completed on April 1, 2012. The renovation is being completed in three separate Phases. Phase One includes the south wing; Phase Two the north wing; and Phase Three the two-story center court structure.
Phase One departments moved into their newly renovated home on April 5, 2012. Those departments included Business Services, Budget, Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Benefits, Human Resources, Copy Center, Mail Room, Teacher Resource Room; staff break room, and the new District Reception area. As part of Phase One, the south visitors’ parking lot and the southern portion of the central courtyard was also completed with new walkways, landscaping, and storm water drainage.
Once the Phase One move was completed, construction began on Phase Two with an anticipated completion date of August 31, 2012. Departments included in Phase Two are Student Services, MIS, Technology Resource Center, and the Professional Development Center. The main highlight of Phase Two included the protection of the District’s main computer center (MDF). This 435 square foot portion of the entire Emerson Court facility controls the District’s phones and computers for all the school campuses. Before the main roof of Phase Two was removed, a secondary weather-proof roof had to be built above the MDF to protect is from potential rain and other infiltration. The MDF remains in operation during the entire renovation effort.
Phase Three is scheduled to begin construction September 1, 2012 and will be completed by January 31, 2013.
