Community Forum for Chief Academic Officer

You are invited to a Community Forum on April 24th from 5:30 – 6:30 PM in the Governing Board room at 1817 North 7th Street, Phx, 85006.

The purpose of the forum is to hear from candidates for the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) position.

The CAO at Phoenix Elementary School District #1 will be responsible for creating learning experiences that ensure all learners are deepening their knowledge of self, of others, and of the dynamic and complex world we live in. The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) establishes and reinforces a student-centered culture by modeling critical thinking skills, fluent communication, collegial collaboration, and creativity. The CAO exhibits working knowledge of testing and assessments, and experience in designing highly successful professional development programs, curriculum development, successful instructional and intervention strategies, and the management of change.

The CAO integrates all curricular departments and functions so that there is a continuous and manageable upgrading and implementation of curriculum across the school system. The CAO is responsible for ensuring coherent, focused professional development, and improvement of curriculum utilizing internal and external student assessment results, student services, special education, gifted and talented education, and educational technology. The CAO implements, with collaboration from professional staff, a district-wide curriculum management plan that is aligned to the strategic plan of Phoenix #1 and measured incrementally throughout the year for the empirical analysis of curricular improvement.
