Principal Letter

Welcome from Mr. Lodato

Dear Emerson Families,

It is estimated that the raw crushing power of an eagle’s talon can be up to 1,000 pounds of pressure per square inch. Imagine that! If we had talons for hands, we could palm a grapefruit and explode it upon impulse. If we harness the power embodied by our own mascot, and we work together with precision and purpose, we can explode the possibilities and create tremendous opportunities for our kids.

With that, I welcome you back to the 2019-20 school year! I am honored and excited to have been welcomed into the Emerson Community in June and to serve as your incoming principal. I spent time this summer with Ms. Gofonia, Interim Principal, and Mrs. Ramos, our new IEIS, getting prepared for your return and for the selection of new staff. I am pleased to announce we will begin our year as a full staff ready for kids!

Please welcome Fabiola Miranda – Office Manager, Monica Palomo – Assistant Office Manager, Shannon Green, Self-Contained Autism Teacher, Emily Swanson – K-4 Special Education Resource Teacher, Zein Sy – 7th & 8th ELA Teacher, Miranda Lehman – Media Clerk, and Caitlin Fagan – K-3 Reading Interventionist.

Included with this letter you will find important dates and events for the start of school. As you review the contents, don’t hesitate to call, email, text, or come by school.

We will have opportunity to get to know one another in the coming year but I have shared a short bio with you to let you know a little bit about me. As we look forward to the start of our partnership, I ask you to keep in mind this African proverb to frame our work ahead:

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
Let’s go together, Eagles.

Sincerely,

Nick Lodato
Principal, Emerson Elementary School
