27 Dec Famous Artist is Phoenix #1 Alumnus
Many gifted students have passed through schools in the Phoenix #1 Elementary School District from state leaders, athletes, and artists. One of the most notable was Jackson Pollock, an American Painter, enrolled in 6th grade at Monroe School in 1923. He was widely noticed for his “drip technique” of pouring or splashing liquid household paint onto a horizontal surface, enabling him to view and paint his canvases from all angles. In 2016, one of his paintings was sold in a private purchase for $200 million. Throughout the years, our art teachers have honored the late artist by showing students Pollock’s techniques.
