What brought you to teaching children: I always knew I wanted to be a teacher.  I used to play teacher with my stuffed animals when I was a kid.  I didn’t know I wanted to teacher special education though.  The first job I got after moving to Arizona was as a paraprofessional at a private day school for students with severe special needs and I loved it!  The rest is history!

Favorite book, as an adult, and why: Anything suspenseful!  I read a lot of James Patterson.

Creative curriculum (something you do to personalize curriculum, annual project…): My students make ‘All About Me’ Books each year.  Last year we invited families and friends to class and the students presented their books.  Speech and Occupational Therapy was involved in the project.  It was a whole team effort!  Other classrooms we work closely with even came to support our students!  The room was packed full of people who were there to love and encourage every students!  I love when projects get our community involved, encourage communication, social skills, and allow my students to feel proud of the work they put in each day!
